UCLA has hundreds of clubs and there are no reasons that you
cannot find one that suits you. If that happens, you can start a club with just
3 people. That is how this club started when Kai Sheng, Philip and Daowen
formed it together with just 3 of them.
Volunteerism is something really big in America and especially
here in UCLA. Basically, more than half of the total students are involved in
at least one volunteering group. It is a requirement to go to medical school
and law school etc. Besides that, you actually get to meet more friends and
realize how fortunate you are to study in this prestigious institution, and for
some without even needing to worry about the tuition fees.
Most students join the clubs during their freshman year and the
best way to know about the clubs before arriving here is to research them
online. You can find the list of all clubs in UCLA website.
Usually held on the Monday of week zero, it is an event not to
be missed. All, if not most clubs will have representatives there to promote
their clubs. You can learn a lot about each club by talking to the people
there. If you like freebies, chances are you will be able to get some shirts,
pens, notepads, food and maybe more. Career fair is also a good way to scoop
some freebies such as portable speakers and bags.
