Daylight Savings Time (DST) is the practice of adjusting
clocks in summer such that daylight is added to evenings. In the US, it begins
on the second Sunday of March, and ends on the first Sunday of November. In
fall, the time will be GMT – 7 (15 hours behind), and you will gain an hour in
the middle of the semester. However, you will lose this hour in spring. In
general, you will hate it when you lose that hour in the end of winter quarter
especially when you are fighting to meet the deadlines.
When DST is implemented, the
sun sets at 8pm or later during summer months, but when not implemented, the
sun sets at 5pm which some might find depressing. Therefore, it is common to
avoid taking classes that end too late during the winter quarter but that
should not be a deciding factor.
